Pilates Defined

What are the benefits of Pilates?

Benefits of Pilates include longer, leaner muscles; performance enhancement for novice to professional athletes; a stronger core/center; less joint compression; relief from back pain; easier pregnancies and quicker post-natal recovery periods for female clients; maintenance of post-physical rehabilitation; more physical mobility for those with Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, obesity, and other health concerns; and an over-all sense of well-being.

What is Nerve Impulse Redirection (NIR)?

PCWG utilizes the Nerve Impulse Redirection (NIR) technique in addition to Stott Pilates training. NIR is an individualized plan which works to redirect the body’s electrical impulses down less active nerve pathways, in order to reawaken under-performing muscles. This technique retrains muscles to work as complete, balanced systems, as they were intended.

Once all of the muscles are working together, as a retrained system, the body has more power, more strength, and the ability to achieve top performance in daily as well as athletic movement.

What is Stott™ Pilates?

Stott™ Pilates differentiates itself from the other forms of Pilates in that it is an anatomically-based approach. Pilates incorporates modern exercise science, rehabilitation principles, and eliminates movements unsuitable for specific postural imbalances. Many find it to be the most effective method available because of the modifications for each body type, thus allowing the client to build strength necessary to perform exercises correctly and safely.
